On Tuesday 28 January, the government approved the Ministry of Agriculture's decision to transfer, free of charge, three vehicles and 100 global navigation satellite system devices held on the balance sheet of the State Forest Service (VMD) to military units of Ukraine's Ministry of Defence, to Ivano-Frankivsk City Council and to Tlumach City Council.
Following Russia's aggressive invasion of Ukraine, the VMD responded to the call to support Ukrainian society and its defenders and reviewed the service vehicles at its disposal. The assessment concluded that the VMD is able to support Ukraine by supplying three light vehicles – two Suzuki SX4 and one Citroen Jumper – as well as 100 Trimble Geo 7X global navigation satellite system devices, whose necessity and usefulness for Ukraine has been confirmed with the association Latvijā dzīvojošo ukraiņu biedrību konfederācija “Viche”. The association Viche will also arrange for the equipment to be delivered to Ukraine and handed over to Ukrainian government institutions.
The order “On the transfer of state movable property to Ukraine free of charge” will enter into force at the moment of its signing and will be published in the official gazette “Latvijas Vēstnesis”.
