On 1 April the government approved a Cabinet of Ministers order drawn up by the Ministry of Agriculture (ZM), permitting the ZM to hand over free of charge to the Ukrainian state specialised commercial enterprise “Forests of Ukraine” one motor vehicle and 100 global navigation satellite system devices currently held on the balance sheet of the State Forest Service (VMD).
Following Russia's aggressive invasion of Ukraine, the VMD responded to the call to support Ukrainian society and its defenders and carried out a further review of the material resources at its disposal, assessing which of them would no longer be required for the performance of the institution's functions and which could be handed over to Ukraine free of charge. The assessment concluded that the VMD is able to support Ukraine by supplying one “Suzuki SX4” passenger car, as well as 100 “Trimble Geo 7X” global navigation satellite system devices.
The order “On the transfer of state movable property to Ukraine free of charge” will come into force at the moment of its signing and will be published in the official gazette “Latvijas Vēstnesis”.
