Since May this year, the territorial planning website – Ģeoportāls – has been available with a new look. During the rebuild, the portal's design was improved to better meet modern requirements and to highlight the main things people use the portal for, namely geoproducts and territorial planning.
Ģeoportāls is a single point of access to Latvia's geospatial information and services. Data from various holders of Latvian geospatial data has been brought together in a single portal for public access.
Over almost ten years, users were listened to and their experience analysed. Taking this into account, the concept, or rather the emphasis, was changed when the system was rebuilt. In this portal, users can find out the permitted land use at any location in Latvia. It is a platform for public participation, where people can follow the territorial development planning process, submit proposals and receive replies, sign up to receive notifications and more. Anyone with an interest can find all the planning documents in one place on Ģeoportāls.
The map design on the portal has been improved, and the portal itself has been made clearer and easier to use, so that all the necessary information is easy to find. Ordering and viewing geoproducts has also been made more convenient. Geoproduct publishers have been considered too, with publishing and the description of geoproduct metadata made more convenient and easier to understand.
In the public section of the Territorial Development Planning Information System (TAPIS) (the ‘Planning documents' section of GeoLatvija.lv), the functionality has essentially not changed, but its usability has been very substantially improved, and the graphic design has been completely reworked in line with modern requirements and trends.
Ģeoportāls is managed by the State Regional Development Agency.
