Firstly, in responding to the consequences, it is essential to prepare. There are countless instances where people from Europe go to voluntarily assist in regions affected by cataclysms and conflicts, believing that they will know how to solve problems, even though such problems do not exist in their own environment.

However, these people often come to realise that their imagined solutions do not mitigate their imagined problems – researchers refer to this as the white saviour complex.

Furthermore, this is often linked to an attitude of treating victims as objects of assistance or dangerous bodies, rather than as real human beings. Before setting out, one should thoroughly understand and research exactly what work is required.
