The forestry and wood processing industry in Latvia is already prepared to increase the share of wood products in construction, said Kristaps Klauss, Executive Director of the Latvian Forest Industry Federation.

He noted that it would be welcome if the Latvian construction industry began to use these materials more frequently, not only for private homes but also in the construction of public buildings. "We can already point to some positive signals, for example, a kindergarten is being built from wooden building materials in Salaspils. Targeted state support could promote a renaissance of environmentally friendly and sustainable wooden building construction throughout Latvia," said K. Klauss.
