The annotation of the amendments adopted by the Economic, Agricultural, Environmental and Regional Policy Committee explains that the changes to the Law on the Disposal of Public Property will ensure faster sale of timber and more optimal associated administrative costs, which is expected to result in higher state budget revenues from the products sold.
Consequently, it is expected that state budget revenues will increase. Representatives of the legislature point out that the approved regulation will facilitate the performance of functions by the Ministry of Transport (SM) in cases where it transfers the rights to fell trees in state-owned forests to the joint-stock company Latvijas valsts meži (LVM), thereby accelerating this process and making it more efficient.
