The number of theories regarding the cause of the "environmental disaster" in Germany and Poland following the mass fish die-off in the Oder is growing. As previously reported, thousands of dead fish were washed ashore on the banks of the Oder at the end of July.

Since then, the responsible services have been trying to determine the cause of the deaths, and as some officials claim, recovery will take several years due to the pollution (poisoning) of the river.

On Saturday, the Polish Minister of Climate and Environment announced that laboratory tests had not detected mercury, which had been discussed previously. The authorities believe that the fish were most likely poisoned. (...)
