As Vilnis Janševskis, head of the Irlava and Lestene parish administration, explained, during the meeting SIA “Livland group” presented the technical project, which is currently at the development stage and was accepted following discussions: “We agreed on the fundamental guidelines, and it was the decision of all involved that the development of the technical project should continue so that it can be submitted to the building authority in December and the procurement for the reconstruction of both buildings can be announced as early as next January. The project includes plans to establish the Courland Battle Museum in the “Rūķīši” house, which will include an exhibition hall featuring materials on the great battles of Courland. In “Likteņi”, meanwhile, it is planned to build a second floor to house a classroom or conference room for approximately 40 people, so that various seminars and meetings can be held there, while the ground floor will contain exhibition rooms, a sanitary facility and an office for museum director Gita Bulaha. At the moment, the project concept is still in the drafting stage, but more detailed discussions will take place in October, when the next meeting is scheduled. Of course, at the same time, consideration is being given to securing funding to carry out the extensive work.”
