The Ministry of Economics, together with the energy sector, is leaning towards proposing two ways to reduce high fuel prices, which could have a significant impact on the entire national economy. One of the proposals involves reducing the excise tax rate on fuel, while the other suggests slowing down the implementation of the so-called Green Deal. This was reported to Latvijas Radio by the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Economics, Ilze Indriksone.

She also pointed out that oil prices on global stock exchanges are already falling, which suggests that the proposals will also need to be evaluated flexibly. I. Indriksone stressed that fuel retailers have convinced the ministry that the rapid price increase was justified.
