Joint Forest Landscape Exhibition “STOPkadri”

Aivis Pīzelis and Ilze Pauliņa’s joint forest landscape exhibition “STOPkadri”

The “STOPkadri” exhibition of photography and painting is on display at the “Rāzna” nature education centre until 30 September. The exhibition is a joint project by painter Aivis Pīzelis and Ilze Pauliņa, a researcher at the Latvian State Forest Research Institute “Silava”, and was created as part of the LVMI Silava and JSC “Latvijas valsts meži” research programme “Impact of Forestry on Forest and Related Ecosystem Services”.

The works for the exhibition were created by combining classic and modern techniques – painting and photography. Each artist has depicted the same landscape views from the exact same vantage point using their respective technique. The aim of the exhibition is to show both the beauty of forest landscapes and the difference in perception, as every person's view is individual, and nature is dynamic, changing according to weather conditions and the seasons.
