The motorway built in Montenegro by a state-owned Chinese company begins at the foot of the mountains near the capital, Podgorica, and ends "for now" in the eastern part of the city. Construction work, as it turns out, is not yet finished, and cars continue to drive along the old road "under" the newly built one. Why? Because the construction work has not yet been paid for. The first repayment of the loan (totalling $1 billion) to the Chinese state bank is due this very month (July), and it is unclear how Montenegro will be able to afford it.... At the moment, the motorway leads from nowhere to nowhere...
