While searching for the great capricorn beetle, I accidentally managed to find a new beetle species for Latvia – Hymenorus doublieri (Hymenorus doublieri)! I didn't recognise it in the field, but it definitely is! It is a fairly rare species throughout the region, which lives mainly in pine deadwood inhabited by great capricorn beetles.
