Aigars Rostovskis, Chairman of the Council of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LTRK), admits that the LTRK is currently informing entrepreneurs about the details of the Green Deal and the investment opportunities on offer; however, real progress is only expected once the funding starts to flow.
“In the context of the Green Deal, business organisations are currently most concerned about issues of competitiveness – specifically, if the USA, China and Russia do not follow this path and instead choose less environmentally friendly but cheaper methods of production, how will European entrepreneurs be able to maintain their competitiveness?” Meanwhile, in response to questions about activities regarding the Green Deal, the Employers' Confederation of Latvia replied that they support the position of European business organisations that entrepreneurs should not be burdened with this at the present time, during the Covid-19 crisis.
