Most often, we talk about forest pollution in the context of plastic bottles and sandwich wrappers left behind by forest visitors – mushroom pickers, berry pickers and holidaymakers – but against the backdrop of mass-scale illegal dumping, this is just a drop in the ocean. Of course, every bit of rubbish left in the forest eventually adds up and causes environmental pollution, but the greatest damage is caused by lorry loads of waste dumped in the forest, particularly worn-out car tyres and old roofing slate.
