To reduce CO2 emissions in Latvia, forestry entrepreneurs are calling for action similar to that of the Nordic countries by increasing the permissible weight for timber transport vehicles to 60 tonnes and the length to 24 metres, provided that a permit for oversized and heavy-duty transport has been obtained. The Forest Certification Council of Latvia (LMSP) is calling for this in a letter to the Minister of Transport Tālis Linkaits (JKP), the Minister of Agriculture Kaspars Gerhards (NA), and a/s "Latvijas valsts meži".
