The LVM GEO platform offers the widest range of maps and data layers in one place, both in online mode and for download, while for those carrying out forestry work, it serves as a data and information cloud, providing everything necessary for work planning, execution, and control. Initially created for the needs of LVM, the platform has now grown into a system of various digital solutions and modules that can be used well beyond the forestry sector.
"LVM began work on this system back in 2008. The reason was very simple – given that we manage 1.6 million hectares, which are "scattered" across all of Latvia, it is very important to view our economic activities spatially. That is, to be able to quickly determine where things are and what is located there, what work is being carried out, where action needs to be taken, and what decisions to make," says Māris Kuzmins, Director of Business System Solutions at LVM.
