The Finns have started demolishing small hydroelectric power plants (HES), but they were built in places that the main national power grids could not reach.
Nowadays, these have been installed even in the most remote areas of the country, the importance of HES is diminishing, and therefore the proposal for liquidation has been supported by the government. Now a group of ten people at the Finnish WWF is working on freeing the rivers, with financial support coming from the company K-rauta and a private individual.
Any owner who wants a dam demolished on their land can turn to the foundation's experts for help. Magda is committed to getting something similar started in our country, just as the Finnish environmental activist Sampsa Vilhunen managed to do back in the day, who started this programme and initially developed it on his own.
