During the FACE General Assembly on 25 October, representing seven million hunters, a position was unanimously adopted: hunters condemn the illegal killing of wildlife, confirming a long-standing stance on the issue.
This position specifically acknowledges the Bern Convention and appreciates the work of the European Commission and the requirements of various international documents to combat this problem.
FACE emphasises:
- The illegal killing of wildlife is unacceptable.
- There is a call for a better understanding of the root causes that drive this (the illegal killing of wildlife). This would allow legislators and policymakers to better prepare regulatory requirements.
- There is a call for policymakers to work together with the hunting community to combat the illegal killing of wildlife.
- The need for an effective regulatory framework regarding the combatting of the illegal killing of wildlife was supported.
