Next year, the Estonian Maritime Museum plans to begin the restoration of military heritage on the island of Naissaar. The Nargen Nord project aims to restore and open to the public the preserved defence post, the commandant's house, and the railway in the northern part of Naissaar. The history of the Naissaar sea fortress began at the start of the 20th century, when the island was part of the construction of the Peter the Great's Naval Fortress. One of the first structures was the railway, which was necessary for building the fortifications. It is to be restored.

"When they started building barracks here in 1913, the railway was essential, and they started with that. Restoring the entire railway to the extent we are planning will cost approximately 3–3.5 million euros. In addition to this, the design and construction of new rolling stock will also be quite costly," explained Urmas Dresen, a member of the Maritime Museum's management board. (...)
