New "Rīgas Meži" board elected

The Housing and Environment Committee of the Riga City Council has defined a new strategic goal for "Rīgas meži". It provides for the sustainable management of municipal natural areas to achieve the preservation and increase of biodiversity, carbon sequestration and storage, and an increase in economic and social value, as well as to ensure the management of municipal gardens, parks, squares, and other urban objects to increase their accessibility, natural and cultural-historical values, and the well-being of residents.

Toms Auškāps, who holds a Master's degree in Business Administration and Management Science from the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga and the University of Latvia and is a member of the Board of AS “Balticovo”, has been elected as a board member with competence in bioeconomy and sustainable land resource management.

Viktors Troicins, who holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the Riga Aviation University and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, has been elected as a board member with competence in financial matters, audit, risk management, and internal control systems. V. Troicins was previously a member of the Board of SIA “Maxima Latvija” and is currently the Deputy Chairman of the Board of OU “Tonybet”.

Aigars Ģērmanis, who holds a Master's degree in Management Science from the University of Latvia and is a member of the Council of AS “Augstsprieguma tīkls”, has been elected as a board member with competence in strategy development and implementation, as well as corporate governance and change management.

One of the priority tasks for the newly elected board will be organising the nomination process for SIA “Rīgas meži” board members in accordance with best practice principles of corporate governance, in order to select professional and competent board members through an open and fair procedure.
