On the 26th and 27th of January this year, from 09:00 to 14:00, the international scientific conference for the forest sector, “Knowledge-Based Forest Sector”, will be held online. During the event, scientists will present the latest research findings and discuss opportunities to ensure the sustainability of Latvian forestry and increase the added value of wood grown in Latvia.

During the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to get answers to many questions, for example:

• How do trees resist the effects of wind and how do foresters assist them?
• How are new technologies facilitating smarter and more precise management?
• What are ecosystem services and what have we learned about their scale and measurement opportunities in Latvian forests?
• Where is carbon sequestered in the forest and how is new knowledge helping to mitigate climate change?

The conference will take place via an interactive live streaming platform and will be free of charge to all registered users.
