Luminor bank economist Pēteris Strautiņš, when comparing the progress of the Baltic states in combating the Covid-19 crisis, believes that Latvia faces an economic boom in the coming years. This is linked to a sharp increase in investment – funds from the European Union's economic recovery packages, resources allocated for the implementation of the green and smart transition, as well as investments related to the construction of Rail Baltica.
The situation in the Latvian economy is highly contrasting. The difficulties of the first wave of the pandemic have, for the most part, been overcome, yet the operations of some sectors remain almost at a standstill.
