For example, the fact that a habitat of European significance has been identified does not immediately mean that economic activity is prohibited in that area. However, as soon as the Nature Conservation Agency publishes the information in the 'Ozols' data management system, leading timber companies stop purchasing wood from these areas, as international standards require precautionary measures to be taken – namely, to wait for the state's decision on whether protective measures will need to be applied to these areas in the future or not. Therefore, the Ministry of Economics will insist that there be no delay in the government's consideration of the informative report on habitats of European significance found in Latvia and that well-founded decisions be taken regarding the future use of these areas.
