On 23 June, the European Commission announced a written vote on a proposal regarding the phasing out of lead ammunition in wetlands. The Czech Republic filed a protest, requesting the cancellation of the written vote and calling for the matter to be voted on only when the relevant committee meetings can be held in person.
Consequently, the European Commission had to postpone the vote indefinitely until in-person meetings are once again possible.
Currently, the Federation of Associations for Hunting and Conservation of the EU (FACE) has begun work on a socio-economic impact assessment regarding this issue. This is being carried out in cooperation with "REACH law". The results of the assessment will be submitted to the European Commission to discuss future proposals for the banning of lead ammunition.
