Last year, companies paid more than 8.2 billion euros in tax payments into the state's consolidated budget, according to information published by the State Revenue Service (VID).

As is customary, fuel retailers are at the top of the list of the largest taxpayers in 2021. According to information compiled by Lursoft, trade, which is the largest sector in Latvia in terms of the number of companies, was also the largest taxpayer last year. Companies working in retail and wholesale paid a total of more than 3 billion euros in taxes administered by the VID in 2021, which is 9.34% more than the year before. By the amount of tax payments per company, neither retail nor wholesale ranks in the Top 10 list of largest taxpayers. (...)
