Seven Tasmanian devil joeys have been born on mainland Australia for the first time in almost 3,000 years, conservation organisations have announced.
At the end of last year, 26 Tasmanian devils were released into the wild at one of Australia's nature reserves.
They were the first representatives of this species to return to mainland Australia, where Tasmanian devils went extinct almost 3,000 years ago – a process driven by the arrival of the dingo, a wild dog.
