Statistical data on forestry and game animals prepared by the State Forest Service will henceforth be available on the Official Statistics Portal at stat.gov.lv. The State Forest Service is one of the first public administration institutions to begin publishing data on the Official Statistics Portal.
In cooperation with the Central Statistical Bureau, the State Forest Service has published its 2021 statistical reports on forest regeneration, tree felling, forest damage, numbers of game and hunted animals, etc., on the Official Statistics Portal at stat.gov.lv. The Official Statistics Portal also provides access to State Forest Service data for previous years, allowing for easy comparison. The State Forest Service data is available https://stat.gov.lv/lv/meklet.
Users benefit in a number of ways from the publication of data on the Official Statistics Portal. Statistics from all institutions are available on a single site, and standardised classifiers are used to create tables. Statistical data for each period no longer needs to be searched for in separate documents on the State Forest Service website; furthermore, there is the option to view interactive visual materials, which can also be downloaded in various formats. Metadata with explanations of definitions included in the tables is available for the data tables. A map browser is provided, allowing users to view thematic maps, observe geospatial relationships, and download geospatial statistics. The State Forest Service data in the map browser can be found here. Additionally, a data publication calendar is available on the portal, allowing users to see when the State Forest Service plans to publish its annual statistics.
