Star gazers enjoy the dark red moon

Star gazers in Europe and elsewhere in the world were recently treated to a rare sighting of a dark red Moon. On 16 May, a lunar eclipse occurred as the Earth passed directly between the Moon and the Sun. As a result, a shadow fell across the Moon, turning it a dark shade of red.

North and South America experienced a total lunar eclipse, while in Eastern Europe it was partial. It should be noted that during the eclipse, the Earth was at its closest point to the Moon, meaning the Moon appeared larger. (...)
