On Sunday, during an extraordinary Cabinet of Ministers meeting, the government decided on additional precautionary measures to curb the Covid-19 pandemic. From now on, in public indoor and outdoor spaces, no more than two people may gather at once unless they are maintaining a two-metre distance, with exceptions for people living in the same household, parents and their minor children, as well as persons performing work or official duties. Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš dubbed the new restrictions “two and two”, emphasising that it is a mandatory requirement for residents to maintain a two-metre distance between people.
