Following field research carried out in the municipalities under the guidance of project manager and archaeologist Juris Urtāns, seven new hillforts have been added to the total: two of them are located in Latgale – Vierņu hillfort in Zvirgzdena parish, Ludza municipality, and Puncuļova II hillfort in Baltinava parish, Balvi municipality, which was identified next to the well-known Puncuļova hillfort.

Summer research has been particularly significant for Kurzeme, where previously only one newly discovered hillfort was known – Kaļķu kalns in Dundaga municipality. This is now supplemented by five new discoveries – Balande hillfort in Alsunga parish, Kuldīga municipality, Izriede hillfort in Bunka parish, South Kurzeme municipality, Stulbene hillfort in Nīkrāce parish, Kuldīga municipality, Kaņauti hillfort in Kalvene parish, South Kurzeme municipality, and Oškalni hillfort in Kazdanga parish, South Kurzeme municipality.
