Riga Nordic University launches international scientific journal “Interdisciplinarity in Applied Sciences”

Riga Nordic University (Riga Nordic University; RNU) has begun publishing a new scientific journal Interdisciplinarity in Applied Sciences (IAS), designed as a platform for promoting high-quality research projects in engineering, computer science, and management sciences, as well as for supporting interdisciplinary initiatives—those that combine the theories, methods, and approaches of various scientific fields.

The journal’s scope includes applied engineering, sustainable technologies, artificial intelligence and data science, smart systems, organisational research, strategic management, hospitality and service systems, as well as socioeconomic and sustainability-related research.

“The launch of Interdisciplinarity in Applied Sciences is a significant milestone for everyone involved in creating this journal. We believe that many modern scientific challenges can no longer be effectively addressed within the confines of a single discipline. Therefore, we created a journal where professionals from various fields can share experiences, exchange ideas, and build meaningful interdisciplinary cooperation. We view IAS not only as a new scientific journal but also as a dynamic international community of professionals, which we aim to build together with our authors, reviewers, editors, and academic partners,” says Prof. Laila Zemīte, Vice-Rector for Science at the Riga Nordic University and Editor-in-Chief of IAS.

The journal’s preparation process ensures double-blind peer review, where manuscripts, following an initial editorial assessment and similarity check, are evaluated by two internationally recognised experts. The aim of the journal is to provide review results within approximately one month, facilitating an efficient and transparent publication process.

IAS operates on an open access basis, providing free online availability of published research without subscription or access barriers. The journal’s creators utilise a continuous publication workflow, which allows accepted articles to be published throughout the year without waiting for a specific issue to be compiled.

“Researchers, academics, and practitioners whose work aligns with the journal’s thematic scope are cordially invited to learn more about the journal, manuscript submission requirements, editorial policy, and publishing opportunities,” notes Laila Zemīte.
