2021 appears to have been a fateful year for tropical rainforests. Why? Deforestation in the Amazon region increased, new financial and political documents and commitments to reduce deforestation were created globally, and interest in nature-based solutions—for example, conservation and afforestation—has grown. A variety of even contradictory decisions and events.
The article examines 12 events or processes which, in the author's opinion, could directly or indirectly, severely or peripherally, affect rainforests in 2022.
