The latest corporate survey indicators in key export markets point to stabilisation at a high level, while the order book assessments provided by Latvian companies suggest that the export curve could continue to climb. There are certainly preconditions for further growth in industry and actual export volumes, but in foreign trade data, a counter-effect may be created by the cooling of price volatility in certain sectors. The US lumber price index, which gained unexpected fame over the last few months, has already fallen by about half, even though it is still at a higher point than it ever was prior to August of last year. Moderate price corrections have taken place in metal markets, but here, too, the level remains very high.
