The Polish government proposed on Tuesday to ban coal imports from Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine, becoming the first country in the European Union (EU) to take such a step. Polish government spokesperson Piotr Müller announced that the new law provides for the freezing of assets of companies and individuals supporting Russia, as well as prohibiting the import of coal.
"We have included provisions in this draft law that will block coal imports from Russia at the national level," stated P. Müller. "We cannot wait for the European Union's response on this matter."
