Ramsons grow in shady, damp forests, where they form larger or smaller colonies. Upon seeing colonies where a great many plants grow together, people are often puzzled by the justification for its protected status. However, such locations suitable for ramsons are very scarce in Latvia as a whole, which is why micro-reserves are established to protect and preserve these sites.
