Patria and Germany have concluded two procurement contracts under the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) 6x6 programme. The combined value of the contracts exceeds €2 billion, of which the amount confirmed at present, including any additions that may be required, is €1 billion. The contracts provide for the purchase of up to 876 Patria 6x6 armoured vehicles in four different configurations, including those armoured personnel carriers fitted with the Patria NEMO turreted mortar system and the Kongsberg RS4 remote weapon station.
Deliveries will begin in 2026, after which Patria will carry out technology transfer to its German industrial partners FFG, JWT and KNDS, with whom Patria signed an industrial cooperation agreement in early 2024. The first fully locally manufactured armoured vehicles will be delivered in 2027, establishing and building up full local production capacity to meet the potential future needs of the Bundeswehr (the German armed forces).

Germany joined the CAVS programme in 2023 and has now reached the delivery phase. The solutions tailored to Germany’s requirements offer new elements that can also be used by other participants in the CAVS programme.
The CAVS programme, led by the Finnish Defence Forces, currently has seven member states: Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom and Norway, and the vehicles are also in use in Ukraine. Within the CAVS programme, development of the 6x6 armoured vehicle system is led by Patria, which has more than forty years of experience in developing and supplying modern troop-protection vehicles and systems integration solutions. Most vehicle deliveries are made using the local industrial capabilities of the member states, and each new member state further strengthens supply chain security across the whole programme.
Patria has received orders for almost 2,000 Patria 6x6 vehicles and has delivered more than 250 of them. European countries with similar equipment requirements may join the programme by mutual agreement.
