AS “Latvijas valsts meži” (LVM) invites forest sector representatives and organisations, as well as other friends of nature, to apply to take part in the largest forest education event in the Baltic States, "Latvijas Meža dienas" (Latvian Forest Days), which will traditionally be held at the end of May in the Latvijas valsts meži nature park in Tērvete. Last year more than 150 activities were organised over the event's two days, drawing more than 15 thousand visitors. This year the event will take place on 22 and 23 May.
“Latvijas Meža dienas” has been held since 2018. The theme of this year's event is "Capturing carbon in wood and growing oxygen".
Forestry and wood industry companies, educational establishments, institutions, public organisations and other enthusiasts are invited to take part in “Latvijas Meža dienas” with a forest education stand. Anyone with questions is invited to contact the event coordinator Normunds Namnieks by 1 March 2026, calling 29181734 or writing to n.namnieks@lvm.lv, with a brief description of what they can offer. Every participant will be provided with a space for their activities free of charge, with it included in the event's overall infrastructure and in communication with the mass media.
Event coordinator Normunds Namnieks explains:
“This year the forest sector's festival will once again bring visitors and workshop organisers together in one place. For sector representatives it is an excellent opportunity to share experience with one another, to strike up new friendships and to tell thousands of interested people about themselves. The large number of forest- and nature-related organisations in previous years has made it possible to tell a very wide audience much more about the forest as our most important natural resource, revealing more about environmentally friendly and sustainable forest management principles.”
“Latvijas Meža dienas” is a series of events rich in tradition, held with the aim of fostering public understanding of sustainable forest management. Further information is available on the website www.latvijasmezadienas.lv
