For at least five years, the forestry and timber industries in Central Europe will "struggle" or attempt to "deal with" the damaged timber "created" as a result of prolonged drought. As mentioned, the bulk of such timber volumes have been caused by drought, which in turn has stimulated an extensive infestation of the European spruce bark beetle (for example, in the Czech Republic, such timber amounts to around 250 million cubic metres).
