Only a small proportion of Latvian pupils see their future in agriculture

Only a small proportion, or 5.5% of pupils, have indicated that they would like to be agronomists in the future, while 17.4% would like to be farmers with their own holdings, informs Justīne Plūmiņa-Margeviča, communication project manager at the foundation Iespējamā misija.

In order to determine pupils' knowledge of and interest in the agricultural sector and the career opportunities it offers, as well as to reduce existing societal stereotypes about farm work today, the foundation Iespējamā misija, in cooperation with the agricultural solutions company SIA BASF Agricultural Solutions, carried out a survey in which 7,179 pupils from 124 Latvian schools participated.
