There is no concrete data on how much timber is used in construction, and it would be quite difficult to compile, however, wood is being used increasingly in building structures, both interior and exterior, and to a lesser extent in load-bearing structures, notes Kristaps Ceplis.
The specialist also explains that timber has been used in the construction of private houses for a long time. Now, wood has also begun its triumphant march into the construction of public buildings, where it is being used more and more.
Impressive wooden buildings have appeared in Latvia, such as the Ogre library, the Latvijas valsts meži office building in Dundaga, and several factories in the private sector, such as Latvijas finieris production facilities in Riga and Rēzekne; furthermore, timber is also widely used in the landscaping of leisure parks.
