On Tuesday, 11 July, members of the European Parliament will discuss the controversial Nature Restoration Law in Strasbourg, whilst a vote to determine Parliament's position will take place on Wednesday.

These events follow a stalemate in the Parliament's Environment Committee, which resulted in a 44 to 44 tie. The law, which aims to restore degraded land and marine areas, has faced opposition led by the centre-right European People's Party (EPP).

First, MEPs will vote on the EPP's proposal to reject the Commission's proposal. If there is no majority, MEPs will vote on the amendments submitted by the political groups.

EU environment ministers will meet in an informal meeting in Spain on Monday and Tuesday (10 and 11 July), where they will focus on soil and water resource management, pollution reduction and the upcoming UN climate talks at COP28.

On Tuesday and Wednesday (11 and 12 July), EU energy ministers will also meet in an informal meeting to discuss electricity market reforms, interconnections and energy matters in line with the Fit for 55 legislative package.
