Agricultural organisations have signed a memorandum on bee-friendly management, which they will encourage all crop farmers in the Latvian countryside to follow this year, the association "Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Environment" has revealed.

The practices mentioned in the memorandum will be delivered to working farmers through the association's member companies in the crop production sector - SIA "Elagro trade", SIA "Baltic Agro", agricultural service cooperatives "VAKS" and "Latraps", SIA "Linas Agro", SIA "Scandagra Latvija", as well as the associations "Zemnieku saeima" and "Lauksaimniecības un industriālās tehnikas asociācija". According to the association's estimates, the call to follow the memorandum will be extended to several thousand farms in Latvia.

Farms that sign the memorandum of cooperation and commit to implementing the practices mentioned in the document will receive a quality mark - a "Bee-friendly" sticker.
