"Latvian Forest Days" in Tērvete on 24 and 25 May

On 24 and 25 May this year, Tērvete will host "Latvian Forest Days", the largest event in the forestry sector. What role does wood play in carbon capture and oxygen production? How can timber construction help the climate? Does our future lie in trees? These are just a few of the topical questions connected with this year's event theme: the importance of forests in mitigating climate change.

Over the course of two days, schoolchildren and families will be able to get to know Latvian forestry at more than 100 forest discovery stops. Visitors will have the chance to try their hand at various forest jobs, learn about modern technology in the forestry sector, discover the wide range of uses for wood as a material and enjoy an extensive cultural programme. Those interested will be able to build wooden houses, climb trees, try out balance boards, lie in a pine cone bath, saw wood, learn about birds and study the bark beetle, watch demonstrations of ground drilling, branch chipping, tree felling, delimbing, cross-cutting and more, as well as take part in many other exciting activities. Admission to the event is free.
