“As one of the wealthiest regions in the world, the Nordic countries must achieve their set goals regarding biodiversity. To do this, they must establish independent expert bodies to evaluate environmental policy and involve young people in decision-making.” These are some of the demands set out in the “Nordic Youth Position Paper on Biodiversity”, which was developed with the participation of approximately 3,000 young people. The document contains 19 specific demands submitted to the ministers responsible for environmental and climate issues.

“This event shows that many young people are concerned about the loss of biodiversity and are eager to participate and take action to prevent it. It is time for the Nordic governments to take the lead in implementing international agreements to start addressing the problems.”
