No jobs – no people!

Data from a study by SIA Lursoft shows a worrying picture: in 2021, companies employed 709,595 workers, which is 64,179 fewer, or 8.3% less than in 2014. The number of employed people has fallen relatively sharply in recent years during the Covid-19 pandemic. Of course, the total population in the country has also decreased over the last few years, but the decline in the number of employed people cannot be attributed solely to the fact that people are getting older, dying, or that birth rates are low.

The excuse that scientific and technological progress is expanding areas where human involvement is increasingly unnecessary will not suffice either, even if it does allow for a significant increase in labour productivity through necessary investment, while simultaneously providing the opportunity to pay employees significantly higher wages. People are also consumers who purchase goods and services, thereby generating not only income for entrepreneurs and employees in those sectors but also supplementing the state purse through excise, value-added, corporate and personal income taxes, and social insurance contributions.
One of the cornerstones of a nation's existence is jobs
