EcoPolitic reported that during the first week of the spring tree-planting campaign, foresters in Ukraine planted nearly 23 million seedlings, particularly in de-occupied territories. In 2021, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree launching the Green Country project. The aim is to increase the area of Ukraine’s forests by 1 million hectares within 10 years, eliminate the 'grey' timber market and conduct a forest inventory.
