A study conducted in Germany demonstrates a method for analysing plastic pollution (plastic emissions) on the country's agricultural land.
One of the problems caused by the Covid-19 pandemic is the increase in plastic pollution in the environment. Since the start of the pandemic, when the use of masks became increasingly common, scientists have warned more than once about an expected long-term problem - the release of face masks and other personal protective equipment into the environment. These relatively large "pieces" of plastic break down (decompose) in the environment into microplastic units, which, in turn, enter waters, agricultural land, and... in various ways. As the definition states, microplastics are solid plastic particles or synthetic fibres ranging in size from 1 µm to 5,000 µm.
