More than half of Finnish municipalities have included the promotion of timber construction in their regional development plans. However, they are still only just beginning to consider the advantages of timber buildings, according to a survey of municipal decision-makers conducted by the Finnish branch of PEFC.

The survey results show that municipal representatives consider indoor air quality to be the most important reason for choosing to build with wood. They placed lower value on both the renewability of the resource, the usefulness of timber use, and finally – in last place – the ability to construct timber buildings in a shorter timeframe.
