LLU continues operations as the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies

As of 1 September, the Latvia University of Agriculture (LLU) continues its operations as the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies. This decision was adopted by the university's Convention on 18 May this year and was formalised in the amendments to the university's Constitution at the end of August. The abbreviated name of the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies is LBTU. Internationally, the university will continue to use the name “Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies”.

LBTU is a research university whose activities in both higher education and research are linked to the innovative and sustainable use of natural resources, which has become the core of the university's identity in the context of ever-increasing climate change. Although at the very beginning of its historical development the university represented only two sectors – agriculture and forestry – one of which carried the university's name for over 80 years, today LBTU, which was previously known as LLU, has become a multidisciplinary university.
