In principle, ever since the First World War, the shaping of an enemy image within Russian society has been carried out in a very systematic way. The only thing observable over the last two years is that this rhetoric and propaganda activity has increased significantly. If one compares it with Nazi propaganda methods, there is absolutely nothing innovative in current Russian techniques. Since the 2008 war in Georgia, Russia has been invoking the "defence of Russians". The slogan "russkije svojih nebrosajut" ("Russians do not abandon their own"), which is currently being heavily emphasised, draws parallels with the "Third Reich" and the "Third Reich's" policy towards its compatriots. It is the same thing we saw during the Sudeten crisis in Czechoslovakia and before the German invasion of Poland. It is as plain as day.
